We Are Now The Proud Owners of Some Camping Gear...

Yay! We are so excited.  Tim went down to St. George on Monday and Tuesday to help his dad move some things from a storage unit he had there.  There was a lot of stuff they were giving away/getting rid of, and my darling husband snagged some things that he knew we could use as poor, starving newlyweds.
We got a North Face two man tent that mostly looks like this:
And two sleeping bags to go with it.  It was the greatest blessing! Tim and I have been talking about getting some camping gear for this summer (I am definitely not a camping person, but I am excited to give it another shot!), but we were worried we wouldn't be able to afford everything we needed.  Good quality tents and sleeping bags can be so expensive, even if they're used!  But now that we have the staples, we just need to go camping with some of our buddies who have a more extensive collection than we do...that way we can be moochers until we build up our own collection.  (Are you listening, Mark & Steph?)
We set the tent up last night in the living room.  It was so much fun.  I can't tell you how excited I am to go camping. Tim and I have never gone together before, but we have several married friends (Mark & Steph, Chris & AriAnn, James & Temma, and lots more...) who all have camping gear and would love to go with us.  We're going to try and plan some good two-day camping trips and see what kind of adventures we can find.
Tim also brought home some other treasures, like a beautifully carved birchwood box from Russia that his dad was storing for him.  It is stunning.  I'll have to take some pictures to post on here.  I was so glad he saved us the tent and sleeping bags! I'll be sure to let you know all about our camping adventures.

  1. Monte and I want to go camping with you, too! He and I have never been camping together (I know, lame) and we need to remedy that. Plus, we all need to hang out more. Before everyone moves away.

  2. Come camping in Miami. You can pitch your tent in our living room. Tile floor, rock-hard ground, same-same, right? Plus you could wake up and go to the beach. Oh, and hang out with us. Could you do either of those things if you go camping in Utah? Um, no.
